CIRM Approves Stem Cell Grant

For the first time, the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine has approved a grant for a human clinical trial using embryonic stem cells. The vote to approve the $25 million award represents the institute’s decision to move some funding from basic science to research aimed at getting treatments to market.
